Anthropological Studies Center Endowment

The ASC Endowment was established in 1992 by employees who made monthly donations directly from their paychecks and has grown in value to nearly $28,000. The donated principle is never spent but the earnings are distributed in support of the mission as per donor intent. The ASC endowment supports two programs:

  1. The David A. Fredrickson (DAF) Research Grant and
  2. The Cultural Resources Management (CRM) Scholarship. The CRM Scholarship will be renamed the Adrian Praetzellis CRM Scholarship to honor his tenure as ASC Director from 1992 through 2016.

A committee of ASC donors review grant applications and make awards, a similar committee awards scholarships to applicants forwarded to them by the SSU Scholarship Office. Over the years, $25,500 has been awarded in support of anthropological research and education.

Past recipients of the DAF Grant include: Michael Meyer, Michael Stoyka, Hannah Ballard, Gina George, Bryan Much, Karin Goetter, Erica Gibson, Naomi Scher, Bryan Mischke, Dana Shew, and Whitney McClellan.

Past CRM Scholarship awardees include: Annita Waghorn, Mark Selverston, Pamela Soon, Ruth Rhoades, Jay Rehor, Melissa Gallagher, Katherine Baber, Chelsea Rose, Ben Harris, Michelle Blake (twice), Greg Greenberg, Angela Locke, Pat Paramoure, Evan Elliott, Gilbert Browning, Jessica Tudor, Angela Turner (twice), Kyle Rabellino, Samantha Dollinger (twice), Whitney McClellan, and Laurie Carriere.

We invite contributions in support of the ASC Endowment Fund to ensure that future generations of CRM students continue to benefit from these programs and to honor the past two directors: David Fredrickson and Adrian Praetzellis.
