Celebrating and Honoring Clubs and Organizations

The 2018 Student Involvement Awards are open and now accepting nominations!
Student Club/Organization Awards honor outstanding students, faculty/staff and alumni members who have made an impact on the Sonoma State campus and beyond.
All of the awards will be presented at the Student Involvement Awards Gala on Monday, April 16, 2018 at 7:30pm in the Student Center Ballroom A. All Presidents, Treasurers and Advisors (alumni/faculty/staff) are invited to attend.
There are fifteen different awards that you can nominate for, but make sure to submit your nominations by March 25th, 2018!

Guidelines

The Student Involvement Awards are given to current Sonoma State University students, faculty, and staff who have had a positive impact at SSU. The awards recognize the tireless work of chartered clubs/organizations both on the SSU campus and the greater community. Successful nominations should demonstrate that the individual or club/organization has made a significant and positive contribution to the campus in one or more of the following ways:

  • Building community
  • Enhancing wellness
  • Promoting social justice and advocacy
  • Actively volunteering
  • Creating innovative and new programs or activities
  • Innovating and enhancing existing campus programs or services
  • Exhibiting outstanding leadership with an organization or program

Eligibility

The following are eligibility requirements that must be met by each nominee:

  • Student nominees must be in good academic standing. (Minimum 2.0 GPA)
  • Student nominees must be enrolled at SSU during the semester the award will be given, or have graduated the previous semester to qualify
  • Nominations should be based on achievements during the 2017-2018 academic and calendar year (depending on how your organization is structured)
  • Nominated clubs/organizations must be currently chartered with Student Involvement.
  • Current SSU faculty, staff, and students are eligible to nominate a student and/or organization for the 2018 Student Involvement Org Awards. Self-nominations are also accepted

Outstanding Alumni Advisor Of The Year Award
Recognizes an outstanding alumni advisor who shows support, commitment, and dedication to the organization(s) they advise. Sumbit application online.


Outstanding Member: Emerging Leader Of The Year Award
Recognizes an outstanding organization member who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to their club/organization, its members, and/or the campus community. The nominee is not required to hold a leadership position in the organization but the nominee must be an active member of the organization in which they are being nominated for.
All nominees must be undergraduate students in good academic (minimum of a 2.0 GPA) and judicial standing with Sonoma State University.

Outstanding Officer Of The Year Award
Recognizes an outstanding member of a club/organization who has held a leadership position. The nominee has demonstrated dedication and service to their organization.
To apply, all applicants must be undergraduates in good academic and judicial standing with the university. The officer must have had at least a semester in their position to be qualified.

Outstanding Faculty/Staff Advisor Of The Year Award
Recognizes an outstandingĀ  faculty/staff advisor who shows support, commitment, and dedication to the organization(s) they advise.

Campus Impact Award
Recognizes an outstanding on-campus program in all areas of engagement with the Sonoma State University community. (Social, diversity, community service, education etc.)
This program must have occurred during the 2017-2018 academic year (if it is a reoccurring event that has yet to happen in 2018, you may use evidence of last year’s program).

Community Impact Award
Recognizes an outstanding program in all areas of engagement (service, social, diversity, education etc.) with the greater community outside of Sonoma State University.
This program must have occurred during the 2017-2018 academic year (if it is a reoccurring event that has yet to happen in 2018, you may use evidence of last year’s program).

Collaborative Program of the Year
Recognizes an outstanding program where the success of the program centers on or was the result of the collaboration between any combination of at least TWO clubs/organizations or campus departments.
For example, club/org + club/org = program, campus department + club/org = program Or any combination of the previous two examples.
This program must have occurred during the 2017-2018 academic year (if it is a reoccurring event that has yet to happen in 2018, you may use evidence of last year’s program).

Member Development Award
Recognizes an outstanding program in the area of member education and/or development (ex. career planning, personal wellness, etc.)
This program must have occurred during the 2017-2018 academic year (if it is a reoccurring event that has yet to happen in 2018, you may use evidence of last year’s program).

Outstanding Fraternity Member of the Year Award
Recognizes one outstanding fraternity man who has made significant contributions to his chapter and the Greek community at SSU. They should embody their organization’s values and exhibit excellence in the areas of leadership, academics, brotherhood/sisterhood, and service/philanthropy. Further, this member serves as a role model to others in the community and has left a legacy of striving for excellence.
To apply, all applicants must be undergraduates in good academic and judicial standing with the university.

Outstanding Sorority Member of the Year Award
Recognizes one sorority woman who has made significant contributions to her chapter and the Greek community at SSU. They should embody their organization’s values and exhibit excellence in the areas of leadership, academics, brotherhood/sisterhood, and service/philanthropy. Further, this member serves as a role model to others in the community and has left a legacy of striving for excellence
To apply, all applicants must be undergraduates in good academic and judicial standing with the university.

Outstanding Multicultural Organization of the Year Award
Recognizes an outstanding multicultural club/organization that has excelled in advancing the university’s commitment to diversity on campus.
In order to be eligible for this award, the organization being nominated must be designated as a multicultural organization by Student Involvement/SonomaSync.

    Outstanding Sports Club of the Year Award
    This award recognizes an SSU chartered sport club that has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the advancement of the university.
    To apply, all applicants must be in good and judicial and academic standing with the university.

Most Improved Organization of the Year Award
Recognizes an outstanding organization who has improved within the last academic or calendar year. This student organization has improved in the areas of membership, leadership development, participation in initiatives that further the organization's purpose, and has made a positive impact on the SSU community.

Outstanding Organization of the Year Award
Recognizes an exceptional SSU chartered club/organization that has excelled in all areas of leadership, membership, and impact. This organization has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to the advancement of its organization, its members, and of the university.

Outstanding New Organization of the Year Award
Recognizes an outstanding new organization to the Sonoma State University campus in the 2017-2018 academic or calendar year. The club/organization has demonstrated significant contributions to the SSU community in a short amount of timeĀ  as indicated by areas of development within a club/organization (member growth, programming, education etc.).
