Orientation

Our orientation program is mandatory for all new international students. After you are admitted, the International Student Coordinator in the Center for International Education will contact you with information about orientation. You can view a previous year’s orientation schedule here.

Orientation for Fall 2018 will take place Thursday, August 16th. Please report to the Center for International Education in International Hall Room 107 by 8:30 am. A campus map can be found here.

At orientation, will cover the following subject areas:

  • American Culture
  • Safety in the U.S.
  • Local transportation and amenities
  • Campus life and activities (tour included)
  • Immigration requirements
  • Forms and document scanning (bring your passport/visa and I-20/DS-2019)
  • Academic advising and registration
  • Online resources
  • Health insurance and healthcare in the U.S.
  • Title IX training

As most new students don’t have cars, we also provide an optional shopping trip to Target where you can purchase everything you need that you couldn’t fit in a suitcase. Housing Services provides a helpful list of What to Bring to your on-campus residences.

On Saturday, we organize an optional field trip to a local attraction. In previous years, we have visited Armstrong Redwoods and Johnson’s Beach on the Russian River. The orientation field trip is FREE and we encourage all new and continuing international students to attend!
