EXCEL is a unique summer academic enrichment program on the Sonoma State University campus, that offers students entering grades 4-9 (fall 2019) over 60 interactive classes in science, technology, engineering, the arts and more!

Registration Instructions


EXCEL offers interactive summer classes in science, technology, engineering, the arts, and math – S.T.E.A.M. – on the campus of Sonoma State University.

EXCEL is distinctively focused towards fostering and developing essential 21st Century and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration in a hands-on, interactive, fun campus environment!


EXCEL, an award winning program, celebrates its 37th year this summer at Sonoma State, and has served over 23,000 students since 1982.

Awards and Recognition

EXCEL has been honored by the State of California with an Assembly Resolution presented by then Assemblyman Jared Huffman for our years of outstanding contributions to education, and is listed by Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth programs for gifted students.
