The Cost of Attendance (COA), also referred to as the student budget, is a standard estimated total of a student’s expenses while attending school.

The CSU makes every effort to keep student costs to a minimum. Fees listed in published schedules or student accounts may need to be increased when public funding is inadequate. Therefore, CSU must reserve the right, even after fees are initially charged or initial fee payments are made, to increase or modify any listed fees. All listed fees, other than mandatory systemwide fees, are subject to change without notice, until the date when instruction for a particular semester or quarter has begun. All CSU listed fees should be regarded as estimates that are subject to change upon approval by the Board of Trustees, the Chancellor, or the Presidents, as appropriate. Changes in mandatory systemwide fees will be made in accordance with the requirements of the Working Families Student Fee Transparency and Accountability Act (Sections 66028 - 66028.6 of the Education Code).

The Schedule of actual Mandatory Registration Charges is published by the Office of the Registrar. The amount listed below is an estimate to be used for planning purposes only. For more information on charges, visit the Student Charges/Fees page on the Office of the Registrar website.

For Informational Purposes Only: In accordance with California Assembly Bill 990, the University provides the typical market cost of a one bedroom apartment in the Rohnert Park area.

1 Bedroom: $1,451 per month (as of January 2018)

The Food and Housing expenses included in the Off Campus Cost of Attendance represent the typical costs students pay when enrolled at Sonoma State University. Actual costs of food and housing will vary.  The typical cost of living off campus assumes a student will have roommates, not live alone in a one bedroom apartment.

If you decide to live on campus at SSU, your actual housing cost will vary from the estimate below, depending on your room assignment. The housing cost below is an average of all accommodations on campus. To find specific room rates, visit Housing Service's website.
