Housing Operations

The Housing Operations Manager ensures that all of the residential areas needs are met. Housing Operations is dedicated to providing a quick response to all issues related to building security (e.g. broken door jamb, windows not locking) and personal safety (e.g. shower door stuck), pest control, and plumbing issues.
The University Residential area is made up of suites, apartments, and townhouses ranging from 630 square feet to 1,550 square feet. In total, Housing Operations maintains 903,557 square feet of interior residential space, which houses 3,250 residential students.

Campus tools and equipment are not available for loan.

Arrangements for Service

HousingMaintenance services in the residential community begins after 9:00 a.m. to respect the resident’s sleeping pattern.

  • Permission is granted by the requestor on a work order for maintenance services to enter when the work order request is submited, a door tag is left in the area where the work was done to notify the resident that a member of Facilities Management had entered and completed their work request.

Staff Residences

ProStaff apartments are considered a “staff residence” and therefore they are not keyed on the standard University master system. Arrangements are made in advance to coordinate access to the ProStaff apartment for all maintenance requests.

  • Repairs to doors and door jambs.
  • Repairs to floors.
  • Installation and repairs to windows and window coverings.
  • Plugged and overflowing drains.
  • Plugged and overflowing toilets.
  • Malfunctioning garbage disposals.
  • Removal of broken keys.
  • Lock core changes.
  • Lockset repairs.
  • Door closure repairs.
  • Mowing, fertilization, and weed abatement.
  • Water management.
  • Integrated pest and dead animals issues. Live animal issues are directed to Environmental, Health, and Safety.
  • Maintenance and repair of sidewalks, parking lots, and roads.
  • Response to client thermal comfort.
  • Response to ventilation and air quality.
  • Troubleshoots appliances such as dishwashers, refrigerators and ovens.
  • Fire alarm response in conjunction with University Police.
  • Troubleshoot power outages.

Resident Responsibilities

Assembly of privately owned furniture is the responsibility of the owner/user. The owner/user may contact the furniture vendor for assembly options.

The suites and apartments are equipped with toilet plungers. If the plumber finds that resolving the plumbing issue is to plunge the toilet, the resident will be charged a fee.
