Here is a list of television shows, movies, and music that have influenced our American culture on sexuality.  

  • Will & Grace is a sitcom that ran from 1998 to 2006.  The show is based on the relationship between Will, a gay lawyer and Debra, a straight interior designer.   This show is known for improving public opinion on LGBT issues.
  • Matt Shephard is a Friend of Mine is a new documentary about the life and death of Matt Shephard told through his friends and family members. An interesting thing to note about this documentary is that it was directed by his close friend.  The point of this documentary is to showcase Matt’s life and highlight problems in the LGBT community that are still happening today. 
  • We Were Here is a documentry exploring and reflecting on the impact of AIDS in San Francisco. It explores how many people's lives were affected and how people responded to the crisis. Watch the trailer here.
  • Orphan Black is an ongoing SciFi show from BBC America involving a woman who has discovered herself to be one of many clones. There are a host of traits that make Cosima (played by Tatiana Maslany) different from the other clones, one of which is her sexuality. Cosima's relationship with her monitor, Delphine (played by Evelyne Brochu) tipped off Orphan Black fans to the fact that Cosima is gay.
