Peer Tutors at SSU are provided in three different ways
- Make an appointment with a tutor for individualized tutoring via wiseguy.com/ssu.
- Attend weekly study sessions led by a peer tutor assigned to select courses. If the course has a SI Tutor, he or she will be introduced in your class.
- Stop by our Drop-In Math Tutoring for immediate assistance. Hours and location vary by semester. Stop by the Tutorial Center or email firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more about this service.
Working with a Tutor: The tutor's main purpose is to work with students in understanding concepts from their courses. Tutors can work with students to review homework, course work, and study guides to prepare for tests. We do not allow tutors to do homework for students.
Hours Allowed Per Week: Students may schedule up to 2 one hour appointments per week with each tutor. If a student needs more time with a tutor, he/she is allowed to schedule an additional appointment, as long as approved by the Tutorial/SI Coordinator.
Booking Appointments: Students may schedule up to 2 weeks in advance, our appointment system requires you to request tutoring sessions every time you want to meet with one of our tutors.
Cancellations: If you need to cancel an appointment go on to your WiseGuy account to cancel your appointment by clicking Cancel Session the day before the scheduled appointment, or on the same day before 8:30 AM.
- If a student fails to show up or fails to cancel the appointment more than two times, they can loose their tutoring privileges.
