German Faculty

Dr. Michaela Grobbel grew up in the Sauerland in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany. She studied at Bonn University and at UCLA in Los Angeles. Dr. Grobbel is the coordinator of the German Program, and happy to answer any questions you may have regarding the German special major or the German minor. Dr. Kathleen Foley-Beining lived in Freiburg/Germany for many years, and brings her wealth of information about life abroad to her extensive teaching experience. Besides being passionate about teaching the German language, she is a creative music enrichment teacher at various schools in Sonoma County, where she teaches vocal music, piano, recorder, dance, drumming, and music theater workshops. Dr. Foley-Beining is also a skilled oil painter, who has exhibited her work, especially still-life paintings of books and 1940s chrome coffeepots, in art shows and galleries.
