Harold Jones, "The Singer's Drummer," Makes Time at SSU

You name it—Count Basie, Oscar Peterson, Duke Ellington, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett and Natalie Cole for starters—and Harold Jones aka “The Singer’s Drummer” has laid down the beat. Jones, who is currently on the Cheek to Cheek Tour with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga, will make a one-day stop at Sonoma State University to work with students in the SSU jazz program.

  • March 11, 1-3 pm, GMC 1029 - Harold Jones at SSU Jazz Forum (free)
  • March 11, 5-6:30 pm, Weill Hall - Open rehearsal, Harold Jones and the SSU Jazz Orchestra (free)
  • March 11, 7:30 pm, Weill Hall - “One More Time - The Music of Count Basie” featuring Harold Jones and the SSU Jazz Orchestra (admission charged)

Harold Jones is one of the finest men I know. I have reviewed "The Singer's Drummer" and it is a Knock-Out! I am happy that someone is putting together a history of what really happens on the road. This is a very creative work. —Tony Bennett on "Harold Jones - The Singer's Drummer"

Tickets are $8. For more information call 707-664-2324.

The three events, presented by the SSU Department of Music, will take place at the Green Music Center, located near the intersection of Rohnert Park Expressway and Petaluma Hill Road.
