William Kanengiser To Play Music From Spain, America in Schroeder

The multi-talented William Kanengiser, winner of the Concert Artist Guild International Competition, will present a classical guitar recital at Sonoma State University highlighting music from Spain and North America. The concert, presented by the SSU Department of Music, takes place on Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Schroeder Hall.

Kanengiser is active as a soloist, chamber musician, founding member of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, and teacher at USC Thornton School of Music. In addition to his many recordings on the DG, Delos, Sony, and Telarc labels, Kanengiser is known for ghost-playing actor Ralph Macchio the 1986 film Crossroads. He recently debuted as a standup comic in a celebrity roast of 20th century guitar icons.

Schroeder Hall is located at Sonoma State University’s Green Music Center near the intersection of Rohnert Park Expressway and Petaluma Hill Road. Parking is available in lots L and O.

Kanengiser is author of two instructional videos, “Effortless Classical Guitar” and “Classical Guitar Mastery.” Prior to the concert, he will present a Master Class with students from the studio of Guitar Professor Eric Cabalo.

The 1 p.m. Master Class in Schroeder Hall on Oct. 10 is free and open to the public.
