Orchestra Launches Second Season With Concerto Winners

Winners of the Sonoma State University Concerto Competition will be featured on September 30 with the SSU Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Alexander Kahn.

Kahn, now in his second year as Director of Orchestral Activities, will conduct the competition winners in two Russian works: Alexander Arutiunian’s Trumpet Concerto in A-flat with soloist Zachary Hall, and Alexander Glazunov’s Saxophone Concerto in E-flat with soloist Megan Rice.

The 7:30 p.m. concert in Weill Hall is entitled “A Concerted Effort” and will include performances by guest violinist Aaron Westman an the Santa Rosa Junior College Symphony Orchestra.
