2015 - 2016 Season

L’Chayim! To Life!
Jewish Music Series
Scott Gerber
Jeremiah Lockwood and Jewlia Eisenberg
Thursday, November 5, 6:30 pm
Schroeder Hall

Opening this double-billing is Scott Gerber, the subject of Bonnie Burt’s 2002 film Song of a Jewish Cowboy. A descendant of the left wing Petaluma chicken ranchers, Gerber learned Yiddish and progressive songs from his mother and grandmother. Today he proudly carries on the Yiddish and ranching traditions of his family.
Jeremiah Lockwood and Jewlia Eisenberg’s duo act Book of J is where old-time religion meets radical politics. Singer/guitarist Lockwood has toured extensively with Balkan Beat Box. Singer Jewlia Eisenberg coined the term “Nerdy-Sexy-Commie-Girly” to describe her eclectic genre of music. Originally from New York City, Eisenberg became an integral member of the San Francisco Bay Area music scene in the 1990s.

Coffee and light refreshments available at 6pm.
