Internship Description

The Center for Intelligent Recovery is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting a healthy and addiction-free lifestyle through engaging and entertaining means, like festivals and conferences.  This organization also takes a strong stand against youth addiction.  Students and community members are highly encouraged to apply for the position if they care deeply about physical and mental health and have an intense desire to end the grip that addiction has on the lives of so many in their communities. 

Job Title: Intern

Compensation: unpaid
Internship Length: negotiable
Hours Per Week: minimum of 12, daytime business hours.
Focus: Crisis Intervention, Mental Health, Substance Abuse
Setting: Business

Goals:
The Center for Intelligent Recovery is committed to act in ways that:

  • support individuals and families on their paths towards Tao and Right Livelihood by promoting and encouraging wellness, self-responsibility, dignity and integrity; and enhancing individual accountability, self-mastery, contribution, compassion, forgiveness, and self-love
  • educate the public and professional community regarding the causes, course and treatment of addiction disorders, reducing the stigma and shame associated with this disease
  • aggressively battle America’s leading epidemic—youth addiction
  • contribute to new national Standards of Care, which detail essential features of integrative, evidence-based, and holistic treatments
  • participate in the public debate regarding addiction and behavioral healthcare reforms; overcome myths and promote intelligence in treatment; contribute support services and education regarding addiction treatment and behavioral healthcare
  • call to action government and community-based funding and spending reforms
  • inspire supportive community-response; loving uncompromised communication, and constructive restructuring of services.

Qualifications:

  • Be passionate about promoting addiction free lifestyles and ending youth addiction
  • Creative thinker and problem-solver; enjoy a creative, brainstorming environment
  • Work well both on a team of people including professional, interns, and volunteers, as well as independently
  • Brings excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with those from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to engage volunteers with a strong commitment to collaboration.
  • Resourceful and organized, with attention to detail.
  • Positive, professional demeanor, and clean, put-together personal presentation
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, phone and email

Additional Information:  This internship position is open to outstanding high school seniors, but preferable interns would be college students or community members.  Also, those profoundly interested in psychology are highly encouraged to apply.  The Center for Intelligent Recovery would like the intern to be able to commit a minimum of 12 hours per week. This position will be unpaid and begins immediately.  It is a great resume booster!
