Internship Description

Job Title: Student Intern - Autism Services

Compensation: unpaid
Internship Length: varies
Hours Per Week: 10 - 37.5 hrs (schedule accommodates both the student and the department)

Population: Adults
Focus: Developmental Disabilities, Autism, Education, Mental Health
Setting: Community Agency, Business, Adult Day Program

Duties: The position is focused on developing, building, and maintaining Autism Services for those served by Becoming Independent.  This intern may perform a variety of administrative and/or promotional support for Becoming Independent programs, and/or working with those served by the program.

Qualifications:

– Individuals must be physically capable of operating a motor vehicle safely

– possess a valid Class C California Driver’s License, or be able to demonstrate the ability to travel on visits to various locations in the city which may or may not be reachable by public transportation.  

– must pass TB test and criminal background check, as required by State law.

Becoming Independent is a non-profit agency that supports people with disabilities in their efforts to live meaningful and productive lives in Sonoma, Napa, and Solano counties.  Within Becoming Independent, there are Supported Living Services, Employment Services, Production and Contract Services, Day Services (Personal Enrichment, Community Integrated Services, and ProArts).
