Internship Description

Job Title: Volunteer on middle school campus to act as in-classroom advocates, to work in the "renewal room" or time out space, and assist in other ways to aid in creating and supporting a positive campus climate.

Compensation: unpaid
Internship Length: 1 year
Hours Per Week: 5-7

Population: Adolescents, Children, Multicultural
Focus: Mental Health, Education
Setting: School

Duties: Varied, but all include 1:1 time with 11-13 year old high risk youth in Roseland. All duties will require training, comittment to internship for 2 semesters, attending regular supervision, and working as a team.

Qualifications: Junior or Senior, a passion for community mental health, counseling and/or education, has reliable transportation, good time management, willing to make a committment to the placement for 2 semesters working on the middle school schedule (different vacations and days off), and will attend supervision.

Additional Information: MFT training program and gap year mentorship with mission to assist bridging the Latino and Caucasian cultures through reducing stigma, providing education and prevention, and community mental health intervention.
