Request for Proposals: Norwick Awards

Steven Norwick Memorial awards are made possible by contributions from the Norwick family and other private donors. The Norwick Fund supports undergraduate research or creative inquiry projects that take place all or in part at SSU preserves. Awards provide funding for faculty to engage students in independent studies or in projects undertaken as part of course work. All majors and degrees are eligible.

Award Amount:  Each Norwick Award provides $1000 to be used in direct support of student travel and engagement in field projects that include activities at SSU preserves.

Application: Faculty and instructors should submit proposals using the form below. Applications are due by 4PM on October 24th, 2017. If you are interested in applying, but are unable to meet that deadline, please contact Daniel Smith at daniel.smith@sonoma.edu.

Deliverables: Each Norwick Award must result in a presentation at the annual Symposium of Research and Creativity in May by the student(s) who were supported by the funding. Arts/Humanities students may present a powerpoint, multimedia, performance, or other demonstration rather than a poster.

Funding Restrictions:  Funding can only be used for travel, supplies, or student salaries that are directly related to the field project described in the application. International travel expenses are not allowed. Poster printing is provided by the SOURCE office (Schulz 1125) when requests are submitted with at least a 1-week advance notice and are not allowed as a separate award expense.
