Come to Brainstorm at Annual Faculty Retreat, Jan. 10

The Faculty Retreat will be held on Jan.10, from 1-4:30 p.m. with a reception from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. in the Commons. The retreat is an open brainstorming session on faculty professional development ideas, building on discussions in several of last fall's "Lunchtime Conversations", and supported by the Professional Development Subcommittee and the Faculty Subcommittee on Sponsored Programs.

Faculty who want to talk with colleagues about how to keep current in their field and create a sustainable professional life at SSU, share ideas about teaching and curriculum development for their program, school, and the University as a whole, can find what they are looking for at this retreat.

More recently hired faculty, or anyone else looking to make connections with other faculty on campus to help sustain more of a sense of professional community are encouraged to attend. A reception following the retreat from 4:30 to 6 p.m. will offer a time to recognize community partners who've helped faculty by providing either opportunities for faculty research or professional activities, or for curriculum development in specific SSU programs, or both.

"These partners collectively support an increasing amount of professional development for SSU faculty, and we'd like to raise the visibility of these kinds of collaborative projects," says Academic Senate Chair Margie Purser. "So if you've been working with someone in the private sector or nonprofit sector, please invite them to the reception." RSVP guest names to or so a parking pass can be arranged.
