Payroll and Benefits Workshops

Please join us September 23–26 for Workshops hosted by the Payroll and Benefits department. Attendance will be limited, so please RSVP directly to the vendor or to the Payroll and Benefits office as indicated.

Sept. 23 – Planning Your CalPERS Retirement, presented by CalPERS.

  • Presentation time: 9-11:30 a.m. in Schulz 1121
  • To enroll in the class, please send an email to and an email will be sent on confirmation of class enrollment.
  • After attending the class, employees may request a one-on-one, 30 minute session in the afternoon with the CalPERS representative, for individual assistance with completing the retirement application. These sessions are available only by appointment.
  • Please bring your CalPERS estimate to the appointment. If a CalPERS estimate is needed, the booklets are available from the Payroll and Benefits Office. Please contact Trisha Ramos directly by e-mail: to make arrangements. We evaluate each request for the one-on-one sessions to determine priority and appreciate your patience while we make arrangements. Each individual will be contacted by email or phone with specific details for the date, time, and location for their 30 minute session.

Sept. 24—Social Security Benefits and Programs, presented by the Social Security Administration.

  • Presentation time: 9:30–11:30 a.m. with Q&A to follow in Schulz 1121
  • To enroll in the class, please send an email to and an email will be sent on confirmation of class enrollment.
  • This workshop will provide an overview of Social Security benefits and programs, including retirement survivors, disability and auxiliary benefits. This program will include some background and history of Social Security as well as some new features of the Social Security website.

Sept. 25—Open Enrollment Benefit Fair

  • Fair Hours: Noon–2 p.m. in Schulz 1121
  • Drop-in event, no registration required.
  • The annual benefits Open Enrollment period for CSU employees this year is September 15–October 10. The effective date for all changes made during Open Enrollment will be January 1, 2015.
  • We have invited participating health, dental, vision and voluntary plan representatives who will be available to answer your questions. Enrollment forms and supplemental material will be available for employees at the fair.

Sept. 26—Tax Sheltered Annuity and Tax Deferred Savings Fair

  • Fair Hours: 11 a.m.–1 p.m. in Schulz 1121
  • This is a drop-in event, no registration required
  • The Payroll and Benefits office has invited representatives from the CSU Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA) plans and The Savings Plus Program to visit our campus and to help you with retirement planning.
  • The CSU Tax Sheltered Annuity (TSA) Program is an optional benefit for most employees. It offers a robust, manageable selection of investment choices from five Fund Sponsors (Fidelity, ING, MetLife, TIAA-CREF and VALIC) and allows employees to manage monthly contributions via Retirement Management. Now is a good time to enroll and/or to re-evaluate your monthly TSA contribution.
  • TSA fund sponsors will be available to hold one-on-one sessions by appointment before and after the fair in the same room. Please see the information below to schedule a one-on-one session with the Fund Sponsor.
