Certificate in Audio & Recording Production

About the Program

A scheduled maintenance outage of the SEIE online registration system will occur between Monday, June 26, 2017 and Friday, June 30, 2017. The outage will begin at 12:00 a.m., PDT, Monday morning and will end at 11:59 p.m., PDT, Friday evening. SEIE highly encourages students to register for classes by this Friday, June 23, 2017, to avoid a registration delay.

This outage will not affect students who register by logging into their MySSU accounts.

We will continue to accept registrations in person, by phone or by fax during the outage; however, users will not have access to the SEIE online registration system until Saturday, July 1, 2017. We apologize for any inconvenience this scheduled outage may cause and thank you for your patience and understanding.

The certificate in Audio and Recording Production is open to the local community and inclined matriculated students interested in music recording and production in a studio setting. The program makes use of SSU's Wolford Recording Studio in Ives Hall, Room 32, which is newly renovated and updated with high level, state of the art, 24 channel pro-tools, mac based equipment, and integrated with red-net ability to record from the Green Music Center's Weill and Schroeder Halls. Students will use the recording studio as a lab to produce music as part of a formalized curriculum.

The certificate program will consist of three courses:

  • Music Technology: Tools & Applications
  • Audio & Recording Production I
  • Audio and Recording Production II

A faculty coordinator from the Department of Music will determine the eligibility of prospective students through a screening and application process. A certificate will be awarded to students who successfully complete the three courses.
