Open Enrollment 2020 - Ends Friday, October 16th

This years' Open Enrollment period will begin on September 21st and end on October 16th. Information about plan and rate changes is available on our Open Enrollment website or CSYou.

The LIVE Benefits Fair is scheduled for September 22nd from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At the LIVE event, you will be able to chat with providers and Payroll and Benefits staff. You must REGISTER to get access to this website.

October CalPERS Webinar - Power of Attorney

A CalPERS Special Power of Attorney allows employees to designate a representative to perform important duties relating to their CalPERS business. Join CalPERS for this informative webinar, as they cover the reasons a CalPERS Special Power of Attorney is beneficial, as well as the duties and limitations a representative may have relating to your benefits.

Changes to FSA as a Result of CARES Act

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act was signed into law on Friday, March 27, 2020.

The CARES Act permanently reinstates coverage of over-the-counter drugs and medicines without a prescription. In addition, qualifying expenses also now include menstrual care products.

The change is effective for expenses incurred on or after January 1, 2020.

Signed requests should be emailed to your Appropriate Administrator for signature. Completed forms should then be emailed to payroll@sonoma.edu for approval.

Access your myCalPERS account to verify your account balance, learn how to run retirement estimates, and generate a verification of income or member account balance letter. View "Your myCalPERS Account for Active & Inactive Members" video which will walk you through the registration process.

CalPERS offers many educational events such as webinars and instructor-led classes that may be of use throughout your employment. Employees may register for any webinar by visiting the Member Education page. The CalPERS YouTube channel is another informative resource.

Payroll and Benefits and Shelter-In-Place (COVID-19)

The Payroll and Benefits Office is operational with limitations listed below. Refer to the SSU Coronavirus (COVID-19) Information webpage for campus details.

  • Payroll and Benefits staff will not be available in-person. Staff check the payroll@sonoma.edu email frequently throughout the workday for general questions.
  • If you need to reach a particular team member, please email that person directly or call the main line at (707) 664-2793 during regular business hours.

There may be delays in processing and response times. We thank you for your patience during this difficult time.

 

Things to Know

  • Employee Assistance Program - The employee assistance program (EAP) is designed to provide professional assistance to state faculty, staff and their families (dependents and permanent household members) in assessing and resolving personal problems that may be affecting well-being or job performance.
  • Employee Wellness - Sonoma State promotes a culture of wellness amongst faculty and staff to encourage personal and professional productivity, physical and mental well-being, and promote a healthy lifestyle. 
  • Ergonomics -  The Ergonomics Program supports employees by providing training, ergonomic evaluations, recommendations and planning for the office and the trades.
  • Tuition Waiver -  Fee waiver (or tuition assistance) entitles eligible CSU employees (and in some cases their spouse, domestic partner or dependent child) to enroll in courses at any CSU campus and have fees waived or reduced.
  • Employee Discounts -  There are several discounts available to employees, including savings off the price of admission tickets to amusement parks, museums, and more.
