Managers' Toolkit

The Managers' Toolkit (Seawolf ID Required) provides recruiting assistance and resources to fill staff and administrative position openings, including applicant sourcing, position posting and advertising, and support in applicant screening, interviewing and selection.

Continuing Education

The Tuition Waiver Program provides the opportunity for eligible staff, faculty, dependent children, spouses or domestic partners to take classes at any CSU campus at significantly reduced rates.  You may be able eligible for the following professional development opportunities:

  • Complete a degree with a Tuition Waiver for yourself or dependent
  • Take a work-related SSU course

CSU's Got Talent Webcast Trainings

All CSU staff and faculty are invited to attend free systemwide professional development webcast trainings offered by the CSU Systemwide Professional Development. No registration necessary, limited to the first 200 logins (multiple viewers can sit in the same room and use one link.)

CSU Learn

In early 2019, Sonoma State successfully migrated from SkillSoft to a new streamlined learning portal for faculty, staff, and student employees; CSULearn. This new learning portal allows our campus to assign and leverage content including professional development and compliance courses. SSU employees can now access required compliance training and more than 75,000 online lessons, videos, e-books, and classes.

Professional Development

CSU Learn is more than just compliance training. SSU Employees have access to over 75,000 online lessons, videos, e-books, and classes! Employees can brush up on their Project Management skills, further their understanding of Excel, strengthen their business writing abilities, work towards a professional certification and more. 

The guide below provides an introduction to the many resources available in the CSU Learn Library. Employees are encouraged to explore the library for additional courses, certifications, and resources that may be of interest to them.

FAQs

A: Some trainings require the user to register before starting the training. Please click the word “Register”- the START button will become visible after you register.

A: Check that you’re opening the training in FireFox and that your flash player is activated. Please note that Internet Explorer is not supported by CSU Learn.

A: Please use FireFox to log into CSU Learn via the Online Portal Page. Once logged in, click on the Assigned Training tile and then find the course you’d like to start.

A: The CSU requires that faculty, staff, and student employees take certain courses to comply with state and university requirements that are driven by federal law, state law or CSU policy. A majority of these courses will be assigned through the systemwide learning management system, CSULearn.

A: Users are asked to retake required compliance courses due to either scheduled renewals or content enhancements. In an effort to closely align our campus with federal laws, state laws, and CSU policies, SSU requires employees to take some compliance training on a renewal schedule. Additionally, from time to time, courses undergo enhancements, improvements, and updates that requires renewals from all employees to become compliant.
