What is the structure of the Sonoma MBA for Professionals program? How long does it take?

The Sonoma MBA is typically a 2 year program.  Students begin the program as a cohort, completing four core courses in their first 2 semesters.  Students who choose the Sonoma MBA in Wine Business option may study full time and complete their degree in one full year.  All classes take place on weeknights from 7pm-9:40pm twice a week.

What is the structure of the Sonoma Executive MBA program? How long does it take?

The Sonoma Executive MBA and the Sonoma Executive MBA in Wine Business programs each take 17 months to complete. Classes meet on Fridays and Saturdays every other week from 8am-5pm (one week on, one week off). The Sonoma MBA in Wine Business includes a “break” during harvest season. During the months of September and October, students will complete an online course.

What is the size of the Sonoma MBA and Sonoma Executive MBA classes?

At Sonoma State University we believe that in order to provide a quality education, students must have access to support from faculty, staff, and their peers. We keep our cohorts small in order to assure this. No Sonoma MBA cohort will have more than 50 students. No Sonoma Executive MBA cohort will have more than 35 students..

What is the difference between the Sonoma Executive MBA and the Sonoma MBA for Professionals? How do I know which program is right for me?

Students who apply to our Sonoma Executive MBA program must have at least 5 years of professional, progressive work experience. Most students in this program have 10-12 years of experience. Students who apply to our Sonoma MBA for Professionals program must have at least 2 years of professional experience. The Professional MBA gives students the foundation of technical business skills they need to succeed and gain traction as they move forward in their careers. Students in the Sonoma Executive MBA build on the existing foundation of skills they’ve fostered through their work experience, and will develop their leadership, communication and strategic management skills through the program. Do I need to take the GMAT?

All Sonoma MBA applicants must complete the GMAT exam with a score of 450 or higher. Sonoma Executive MBA applicants may have the GMAT exam waived if they have at least 8 years of professional, progressive experience reflected on their resume.
