Admissions for
The Sonoma Executive MBA

The Sonoma Executive MBA (EMBA) application process is different than that for traditional programs. We encourage you to call us as you begin so that we can answer your questions, especially regarding particulars such as how the requirements apply to you or how you might finance your EMBA through channels like tuition reimbursement.



How do I apply?

  1. All applicants must complete BOTH online applications. Please submit the Graduate Programs Department Application first.

  2. Email your current professional resume, including name and contact information for two professional references to
  3. Official hard copy transcripts from where you received your bachelor's degree or your last 60 units of coursework reflect a 2.5 GPA or higher. Must show proof of completion of a Bachelor's Degree at a minimum. Must show proficiency in English
  4. If needed, GMAT Score > 450 (Graduate Management Admission Test) scores, or equivalent test scores on another (GRE, LSAT, MCAT, etc.)

Financing Your Sonoma EMBA. 

The EMBA adds value to both the student and their employer, so many companies already offer tuition assistance programs for their employees. We have also partnered with EMBA students to develop a specific support plan if their companies don't have one in place yet. Contact us to talk about your options.   

Graduate students enrolled in at least 4 units per semester may be eligible for up to $20,500 per academic year from the Federal Direct Loan program. Read more about financing your EMBA (pdf).

For International Students

International students must meet the admissions criteria set forth by the graduate department. Students in all Sonoma MBA and EMBA programs are required to gain practical experience by a) completing an internship course, b) working for eight or more months during their MBA or EMBA program, or c) combining an internship course and work for a total of eight or more months during their MBA or EMBA program. International students may be authorized for Curricular Practical Training (CPT) to be eligible for off-campus work or internships in a position directly related to their field of study.

In addition to the school of business and economic documents, the international student admissions office will request the following from you:

Your financial documents must be no older than 6 months old. Please read carefully and complete this form and return with the proper documents
