Once you have applied to the university you can schedule an Audition to become a Music Major on one of the Department of Music Audition Days.

Spring Season Tickets On Sale

Tickets are on sale for the Department of Music spring season that consists of more than 30 student, faculty and visiting artist performances at the Green Music Center, and ten showings of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” at Evert B. Person Theatre. Highlights include the US Navy Band 2018 Tour and performances by the Symphony Orchestra, Concert and Symphonic Choirs, Jazz Orchestra and Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Ticket prices are $8 for music concerts and $10-17 for the musical. All events are free to SSU students.

The Navy Band will perform in Weill Hall February 21.


United States Navy Band

Mark your calendar for February 21 at 7:30 pm when the United States Navy Band will give a free concert in Weill Hall as part of their Spring 2018 US Tour. Captain Kenneth Collins conducts. Free admission, ticket required.


Navarro Programs Music for Piano Quartet

Violist Wayne Roden joins Chamber Artists-in-Residence Navarro Trio on February 18 for Mozart's Piano Quartet in G minor for violin, viola, cello and piano. Also on the program is the Piano Quartet in E, Op. 20 by Taneyev. Roden, who teaches viola at Sonoma State, can be heard as a string soloist on the San Francisco Symphony’s recording of Strauss’ Metamorphoses, Herbert Blomstedt conducting, on the Philips label. The 2 pm concert takes place in Schroeder Hall. Tickets $8 and free to SSU students.  

Faculty & Students Collaborate on All-Ives Concert

Members of the music faculty and selected students will perform music by American composer Charles Ives in Schroeder Hall on March 2 at 7:30 p.m. The program, conducted by Brian S. Wilson, will include some of Ives’s best-known and most challenging works — The Unanswered Question, From the Steeples and the Mountains, and Variations on “America” for organ.

Guitarist Grisha Goryachev

Guitarist Grisha Goryachev will be in residence on April 14 for a classical guitar master class and concert in Schroeder Hall. A native of St. Petersburg, Russia, Goryachev is renowned for his extraordinary musical sensitivity and technical virtuosity in both classical and flamenco styles. The concert begins at 7:30 pm. Tickets $8, free to SSU students. Master class details will be announced at a later date.
