Once you have applied to the university you can schedule an Audition to become a Music Major on one of the Department of Music Audition Days.

Spring Season Tickets On Sale

Tickets are on sale for the Department of Music spring season that consists of more than 30 student, faculty and visiting artist performances at the Green Music Center, and ten showings of “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” at Evert B. Person Theatre. Highlights include the US Navy Band 2018 Tour and performances by the Symphony Orchestra, Concert and Symphonic Choirs, Jazz Orchestra and Symphonic Wind Ensemble.

Ticket prices are $8 for music concerts and $10-17 for the musical. All events are free to SSU students.

Pulsoptional composers collective


Pulsoptional Residency Includes Two World Premieres

The Music Composition program at Sonoma State University will host a composer residency from April 4-7 featuring Pulsoptional, a collective of six composer-performers who work in acoustic and electronic media. Pulsoptional will perform a concert of their works at 7:30 pm on April 6 that will include two world premieres at the Green Music Center’s Schroeder Hall. Read more!


Guitarist Grisha Goryachev

The heavenly acoustics of Schroeder Hall will be the setting for an evening of music for solo guitar when Grisha Goryachev performs in recital April 14 at 7:30 pm. Goryachev will perform music by Vicente Amigo, Ernesto Lecuona, Mario Escudero, Manolo Sanlúcar, Rafael Riqueni, and Paco de Lucía.

Goryachev will demonstrate classical and flamenco guitar techniques at a free, hands-on workshop prior to the concert, from 12-1:30 pm in GMC 1028. Guitarists are encouraged to bring their instruments to the workshop. For information, email Guitar Instructor Eric Cabalo.
