Once you have applied to the university you can schedule an Audition to become a Music Major on one of the Department of Music Audition Days.

The USAF Jazz Commanders headline the Jazz Orchestra concert on May 11.


All Systems Go For USAF Commanders

The 18-member Commanders Jazz Ensemble from the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West will get your pulse going on May 11 when they perform music from the golden age of swing up to contemporary composers like Maria Schneider and Gordon Goodwin. The SSU Jazz Orchestra opens the Weill Hall show with original takes on Big Band standards.

Symphonic Wind Ensemble


Eric Cabalo, Guitar, to Perform with Symphonic Winds

Classical guitarist Eric Cabalo will perform Argentinian composer Cacho Tirao’s Conciertango Buenos Aires with the Symphonic Wind Ensemble at 7:30 pm on May 12 in Weill Hall. The concert will include performances by the SSU Concert Band and Delta College Symphonic Band playing works by Bach, Bernstein, Chattaway, Copland, Daughtrey, Ellerby, Holst and Maslanka. SSU music major Zachary Newbegin will play Tommy Pedersen’s bass trombone feature, Blue Topaz. Tickets are $8 and free to SSU students. Promo: SSUStudent
