About the Interim Dean

Dr. Maureen Buckley received her M.A. and  Ph.D. degrees in Counseling Psychology from Boston College. Her doctoral work explored developmental differences in children’s conception of violence. In 1998 she became a faculty member at Sonoma State University, teaching in the Counseling M.A. program. In this capacity she taught core clinical supervision classes, as well as coursework related to counseling youth and working with families. She has served as School Counseling Program Coordinator and Department Chair. Dr. Buckley's counseling experience includes work in school counseling, community mental health, pediatric behavioral medicine, child trauma and psychological assessment. Her scholarship focuses on mentoring, emotional competence, and contextual interventions for promoting positive developmental outcomes for youth.
