Library Dean Barbara Butler Announces Retirement

Dean Barbara Butler has announced her retirement from the University Library effective April 1. "I know SSU will miss her vision and leadership," said Provost Andrew Rogerson.

Butler joined the Library faculty in 1994 and has served as Dean of the University Library for the past thirteen years. With the move to the Schulz Information Center in 2000, she transformed the Library into an active learning center, highly collaborative in nature, which has built and supported academic success at Sonoma State.

In recognition of her exemplary services to SSU, Dean Butler will be appointed Dean of the University Library Emeritus.

Effective April 1, Brandon Dudley will assume the position of Interim Director of the University Library. Since 2005, Dudley has been Director of Library Technology at SSU. Prior to joining the University, Brandon spent ten years working in corporate IT support and technology implementation. He received his master’s degree in Library Science from San Jose State University and his bachelor’s in Experimental Psychology from UC Santa Cruz.
