The “Big Reveal” is Coming, November 5

New Facility Makes Room for More Classrooms on Campus

The new Student Center, under construction for the past two years, is set to open on Tuesday, Nov. 5 with a celebration for the campus community running from noon to 5 p.m. Though focused mainly on the students who have partially funded the building, the campus community is invited to become acquainted with what this multi-faceted facility has to offer.

The impact of the facility has already been felt with the remodeling of the Commons into a 120-site seat smart classroom and the installation of 60 seats in the Chalk Hill facility on the west side of campus. By the time the remodeling of the new Student Union occurs in Spring 2014 there will be more than 225 new classroom seats created in areas that are now the Multi-Purpose room, Erin Fisher Room, the Pub, the HUB and the Associated Student offices. Total new classroom space will amount to more than 400 seats, says Christopher Dinno, Assoc. Vice President for Facilities, Operations and Planning.

Who will find new office space in the Student Center? Staff from following areas will be moving close to the opening:

First floor
Box Office

Second floor
Center for Student Leadership, Involvement and Service (CSLIS)
Associated Students, Inc.
